The Henry Handel Richardson Centenary Writing Competition

The Henry Handel Richardson Society has recently launched their Centenary Writing Competition with Helen Garner serving as judge.

From adults (18 and older) they are looking for short stories or non-fiction essays, up to 5,000 words, with some link to Henry Handel Richardson and /or her work. The winner will take home $1000, plus a boxed set of The letters of Henry Handel Richardson, edited by Clive Probyn and Bruce Steele

From students, years 10 – 12, they are looking for an original piece of writing in any genre up to 1,500 words with some link to Henry Handel Richardson and/or her work. The First Prize is $350 cash, plus a set of text classics valued at over $380. Second Prize is 20 text classics. Third Prize is 10 text classics

The submission deadline is 31 August 2012.
